New opportunity for the Atrium Beach hotel: La Vila resumes the file to legalize it after 20 years.

The City Council is amending La Cala’s PRI for the second time, ten years after it was annulled by the Supreme Court. The plenary session paves the way for a new agreement that will allow the completion of the macro hotel.

Paralyzed since 2003
The Atrium Beach was designed to become one of the largest hotel complexes in Europe and the promoter was licensed to build an 11-storey establishment, which eventually became 21.
Two industrial accidents that occurred in 2003, within a few days, and which killed three workers, caused the construction of the complex to be halted.

The reason? An excess of construction that, as confirmed by several technical reports, would range from 53,000 to over 80,000 square feet. And, what’s worse, all that work was done without modification to the licenses granted and out of order.

Now the votes of the tripartite, formed by PSOE, Compromís and Gent per La Vila, will allow a new amendment of the PRI. And with that perhaps a new opportunity to legalize the works and to complete this project once and for all.
